Futuna Chapel

Futuna chapel was a striking building nestled amongst a small village, its height and scale contrasted greatly with the other buildings making it the focal point of the area. The outside with its sharp geometric edges and long sweeping rooves definitely made an impact on you. Moving inside the space felt very open and the main structure led your eyes up into the exposed wooden beams and roofing, the overall lighting of the space was not a very bright space but light was being used in a crated and controlled manner inside the space. The large triangle windows with coloured Perspex’s gave a gentle, softened light cascading onto the rough cast concrete walls with other positioned windows to let beams of light flow into the bottom of the space. The space felt overall open and quite cold but the warm lighting did help make the space feel comfortable to be in.
